A Crochet Interview with Tami from Tanglewood Knots

Today I’m pleased as punch to bring you another wonderful interview.  This one is from the amazing Tami of Tanglewood Knots.

Since she’s already shared the story of how she learned how to crochet at her own blog, Tami chose to tell us about some of the current crochet projects she’s working on.

Q.  What are you working on?

A.  Right at this moment I have 5 crochet projects that I am working on. A Wizard hat for my son who is a huge D&D fan. A duster style sweater for my daughter. A summer top for a lovely young lady that is one of my daughter’s close friends. A maxi skirt that is for ME. And my Mindful Mandala which is an ongoing project that I work on specifically to relax, enjoy the meditative benefits of crochet, and recharge my “Crojo”.
Some non-crochet projects I’ve been dabbling in are – learning how to tat lace. I just bought some shuttles and I am comparing the needle tatting method to shuttle tatting to see which I prefer. I also just purchased a Kumihimo disk to learn how to do this ancient Japanese braided cord technique. I was inspired by Sarah at Knotted Star.

Q.  Is it for a special occasion?

A.  None of my current projects are for a special occasion. They are all just for fun and the love of crocheting at the moment.

Q.  Who do you mostly crochet for?

A.  I mostly crochet for family and friends. My oldest daughter Aimee has the biggest collection of my crocheting.

Q.  Tell us all about your greatest crochet achievement to date?

A.  I would have to say that my greatest crochet achievement would be the shawls I made for Aimee’s wedding. In 2 months I made 7 shawls for Aimee, her maid of honor and her 5 bridesmaids. I was so happy with how they came out. It was such a great feeling to see them all looking so beautiful in their gowns with their shawls on their shoulders. It was extra special for me to see Aimee in her wedding gown wearing the shawl I made for her.  Crochet Flower of Life Shawl

So beautiful!

Q.  Are you in a crochet club or group?  Tell us about it.

A.  I am not in a crochet club or group, but I do have a few friends that also crochet plus I consider the WordPress crafting community to be a club of sorts. 😀

Q.  Care to share a story that relates to your present crocheting interests?

A.I really just want to crochet things that will make the people I love smile. Quirky things like the Wizard hat for my son. Some amigurumi for my younger daughter (she’s 17), throw pillows for my oldest daughter.  I’m also planning to crochet a picnic basket and blanket for my husband and I because we love taking picnics in the summer.
