A Pretty Crochet Scarf that works up quick and (fairly) easy!

I recently purchased a crochet kit from Craftsy.  The crochet pattern was available immediately via download so I gave it a try using some yarn that I already had.

It’s called the 220 Sport Prince Edward Island scarf and even though I improvised on some of the stitches and left off the fringe, I really love the way it turned out.

I love the lacy open stitches!

You can use my affiliate link (full disclosure) to check out the kit I purchased at Craftsy by clicking HERE.

The scarf was designed by Kristen Stoltzfus.  I used her pattern for the entire mid-section of the scarf and I then went rouge for the outer stitches and edging.  Mine looks a lot like hers.

I also decided to leave off the fringe because having used alternate yarn, the scarf was already long enough without adding extra inches of yarn.  Besides, I like the way the edge looks.

Look Ma! No fringe!

This scarf took me almost every bit of an entire skein of Caron Simply Soft Tweeds – in off white color.  I used a 5 mm hook.

The size ended up being 5 inches wide using the tips of the edging by 74 inches long.

This one will be a birthday gift for someone special but I plan to make more of these beauties soon!

How about you?  Do you always follow your crochet patterns exactly to the tee?  Honestly, I usually do but it is fun to get creative sometimes.  Share your thoughts in the comments.  I love hearing from my readers.

  4. Love this, it’s so different than your usual scarf. Once i am comfortable with a pattern i tend to change it up a little bit – Especially scarves i like to play with length.

Simply soft is such a nice yarn for anything next to the skin, this will be wonderful!

Very pretty! I usually follow a pattern as designed unless there are problems and I have to adjust things, or there is something I don’t like. Sometimes I’ll the use the knowledge I gained to come up with something entirely different in another project.

  7. It’s fab, I love the diamondy pattern! I used to stick to patterns rigidly, but now I just can’t seem to stop myself fiddling with it as I go.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to always change patterns! It looks great 🙂
