I love to crochet while watching television and I especially love to watch Netflix while crocheting because I can always rewind if I feel that I missed something important while busily counting stitches or concentrating on getting my pattern just right but I could NOT for the life of me watch The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society while crocheting last night.
The reason, you ask? This movie was just too good to take my eyes off of!
“In the aftermath of World War II, a writer forms an unexpected bond with the residents of Guernsey Island when she decides to write a book about their experiences during the war.”
I realize that not everyone will agree with me. (My husband, for one. It’s just not his type of movie. But I don’t think it should be considered a chick flick because of his opinion. He prefers action and monster movies.) But… if you like a good love story or historical fiction packed with drama, or if you enjoy a story with some meat on its bones, if you enjoy tales with characters who are writers, or if you like British dramas or maybe I should say, if you loved Downton Abbey, (there are so many great actors in this from there and they will keep you just as enthralled here) this is a MUST-SEE! Just don’t expect to be able to get any crocheting done while it’s on.
The story is so packed with emotion and heart-grabbing historical events that I just couldn’t take my eyes off of it long enough to create a stitch. Rows were out of the question. I had no choice but to sit there with my half-finished blanket on my lap, hook in hand, staring at the screen for the entire 2 hours and 4 minutes.
You’ve been warned. Go watch this movie!
